Cumberland-SRA football game is pushed to Saturday as Tucker Field project nears completion

CUMBERLAND – One more day – at least that’s the hope that the Cumberland High football team will be allowed to hit its home turf for an intriguing Division II-B contest against St. Raphael Academy.

With the track portion of Tucker Field still in the final phase of completion, school officials decided to push the Cumberland-SRA matchup ahead a day, moving it from Friday night to Saturday night. Kickoff remains at 7 p.m.

LINCOLN — Raise your hand if you can name the two winningest fighters in the three-year history of Classic Entertainment & Sports’ mixed martial arts division.
If you can name Pawtucket middleweight Todd Chattelle and Woonsocket bantamweight Andre Soukhamthath, you can go to the head to the class.
Both fighters, who train out of Tri-Force MMA in Pawtucket, have won a record five times under the CES colors, and they will look to continue their winning ways tonight at the Twin River Event Center.

Dentist disciplined by health board

PAWTUCKET – A state Health Department disciplinary board has suspended a local dentist’s authority to prescribe controlled substances after providing himself and others with drugs that have nothing to do with pulling teeth.

In one incident, Demetrius James Photopoulos, D.D.S., prescribed the growth hormone omnitrope to a three-year-old in 2012, said the Board of Examiners in Dentistry. The child was given the drug for five months.

BREAKING NEWS: Woman hit by truck in Cumberland dies

CUMBERLAND – An elderly woman was killed Thursday morning after she was
struck by a dairy truck while crossing Dexter Street at the intersection
of Dexter and High Street, police said.
According to police, the woman, who’s name and age were not being released pending notification of next of kin, was struck around 6 a.m. while she was attempting to cross Dexter Street and was struck by the truck, which was traveling west on High Street, according to police.
