A work crew from E.W. Audet and Sons Inc. was busy installing new lights at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket this week. A total of 278 light bulbs are being installed that will be brighter and more energy efficient than the ones they’re replacing.

City man faces numerous drug charges

PAWTUCKET — A 19-year-old city man, John Demonte Alarcon, was arrested on numerous drug charges on Thursday following an investigation by members of the Pawtucket Police Special Squad.
According to Pawtucket Police, this investigation began on information provided by neighborhood residents and anonymous sources. Based on their findings, a court-approved search warrant for an apartment on Hatfield Street was executed on Thursday.

However, finding ways to maintain the momentum at this and other downtown businesses was the reason why so many had gathered, and the topic of a meeting called by Mayor Donald Grebien.

CUMBERLAND - Paul R. Kubiak, 65, of Angell Road passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Susan E. Angell-Kubiak.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Isle (Rosentreter) Kubiak and the late Leon Kubiak, Sr., he had lived in Cumberland for the past 22 years.
A 1966 graduate of Tolman High School, Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1967-69 and as a reservist until 1973. He was a produce manager for Almacs Supermarkets for 30 years and retired last year from Stop & Shop.

PAWTUCKET - William H. Sullivan, 83, of Columbus Ave., Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
Born in Dorchester, MA, he was the son of the late William and Louise (Treanor) Sullivan. He moved to Pawtucket in 1950 when he married his beloved late wife, Geraldine (Ward) Sullivan with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

PAWTUCKET. Ernest T. Jubainville, 90, passed away Wednesday after an illness. He was born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Theodore H. and Laura M. (Bizier) Jubainville.
He lived most of his life in Central Falls and Pawtucket. Mr. Jubainville had been employed at Fram Corp. for many years and was a Navy Veteran of WW II. His favorite pass time was fishing at Point Judith.

PAWTUCKET - Spiro "Speed" Kacharo, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 10, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Impagliazzo) Kacharo for fifty-six years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Denno and Adrienne (Tsotakos) Kacharo. Speed was a Korean War United States Army veteran. He loved spending time with his family.

EAST PROVIDENCE - Elizabeth A. (Partridge) Green, 99, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Linn Health Care Center, East Providence. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and L. Alma (Blackburn) Partridge and the wife of the late Wesley C. Green. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Partridge and her brother, Rev. Daniel Partridge, Jr. She is survived by her son, Wesley C. Green, Jr. of Green Valley, AZ and one grandson.

New council meets, hints at clashes

PAWTUCKET — Fresh from Monday night's inauguration, the City Council convened for a regular meeting on Wednesday, taking up a variety of housekeeping items but also hinting at possible clashes with the mayoral administration over some issues in the coming months.
