Bailey records stellar inning of relief for PawSox, wants return to parent club

PAWTUCKET — Andrew Bailey doesn’t know when he may return to the Boston Red Sox, but he’s more than anxious to do so.
In Pawtucket’s 6-3 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs at McCoy Stadium on Thursday afternoon, Bailey relieved starter Billy Buckner in the sixth inning and allowed just one hit (without a walk and fanned a pair in his one-frame stint.
That, coupled with a solid outing the night before when he hurled one inning of flawless ball (with a strikeout), the 28-year-old from Cherry Hills, N.J. likes how he’s feeling.

PawSox drop second straight to Chiefs, 6-3

PAWTUCKET — Despite a 6-3 matinee loss to the Syracuse Chiefs on Thursday afternoon, Pawtucket Red Sox skipper Arnie Beyeler sat in his McCoy Stadium clubhouse office afterward explaining his pleasure with three relievers’ respective outings.
In a rehab assignment with Pawtucket, righty Andrew Bailey allowed just one hit and fanned two in a single-inning stint (20 pitches, 14 strikes), while Daniel Bard took over in the seventh and yielded a hit, run and two walks while whiffing one. (In the process, he hit 97 mph on the radar gun, and threw 22 pitches, 12 for strikes).

Town Hall mourns loss of Finance Director Woerner

CUMBERLAND – Town Hall employees are trying to cope with the loss of one of their own, following the death of Finance Director Steve Woerner on Wednesday.
Woerner, 61, died after being injured in a recent fall at his home, according to Mayor Daniel J. McKee.
“He was a good man that we loved down here at Town Hall,” McKee said. “He was very valuable to the town and a man who was close to a number of people here.”

C.F. police seek help in locating CVS armed robber

CENTRAL FALLS – Police responded to an armed robbery early Thursday morning at the CVS Pharmacy at 309 Broad St.
The suspect in this case displayed a firearm to the clerk, handing a note that demanded money from the cash register, police stated in a press release. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash. The last known direction was south through the parking lot and into Pawtucket. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, according to police.

Sen. Whitehouse rolls out his jobs plan during local visit

PROVIDENCE – With Rhode Island workers and small businesses still struggling in this tough economy, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse Wednesday kicked off a month-long tour of small businesses in the state, and rolled out a series of initiatives to create jobs. Whitehouse’s jobs plan is a mix of policies and proposals that he has advocated for throughout his time in the Senate, and which, if passed, would provide a boost to small businesses throughout the state.

PAWTUCKET- Eldana P. Moussally, 86, of Leominster, MA, and formerly of Pawtucket, RI passed away Wednesday afternoon at the UMASS Medical University Campus unexpectedly after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bradley, ME she was the daughter of the late Frank and Celena (Morin) Guay.
She was the wife of the late George T. Moussally.
Mrs. Moussally moved into Sunrise Assisted Living Community in Leominster, MA and enjoyed her golden years filled with friends and many activities.

Genowefa Golenia Boron

CENTRAL FALLS - Genowefa Golenia Boron, 82, passed away Wednesday August 8, 2012 at Home and Hospice Care Of RI. She was the beloved wife of Franciszek Boron and the late Boleslaw Golenia.
Born in Grodzisko Gorne, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Jan and Salomea (Serafin) Matuszek. She lived in Central Falls for the past 43 years.
Before retiring Mrs. Golenia Boron was employed as a Weaver for the former Paulis Silk Co.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church Holy Rosary Society.

LeRoy T. Mooney

CUMBERLAND - LeRoy T. Mooney, 77, of East Barrows St., passed away on Wednesday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Faunce) Mooney.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Alfred E. and Evelyn M. (Follows) Mooney, he was a life long Cumberland resident.
He was employed by Shea's Auto Body, Cumberland for 45 years until his retirement.

PAWTUCKET - Yvette M. (Letourneau) Roy, 73, of Martin Ct. passed away Tuesday in the Memorial Hospital of RI, Pawtucket. She was the beloved wife of Roland L. Roy.
Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Albert and Yvonne (Levasseur) Letourneau. She was a life long Pawtucket resident.
Besides her husband Mrs. Roy leaves two sons, Michael Roy of Lincoln and Steven Roy of Central Falls. She also leaves two brothers, Richard Letourneau in Florida and Maurice Letourneau of Manville and a step sister Jeanette Langlois of Cumberland.

PAWTUCKET - Dr. Melvin J. King died on August 6, 2012 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Caroline (Tefft) King.
Dr. King was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on October 8, 1922, the son of James and Edith (Hirst) King. He was the brother of the late Clifford King. In addition to his wife Caroline, Dr. King is survived by two daughters; Deborah J. King and her partner Mr. Lee Weissman of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Sara K. Papa and her husband John Papa of Avon, Connecticut, and two grandchildren; Alexandra K. Papa of Washington, DC and John Tyler Papa of Avon.
