Schools must take deficit responsibility, says Grebien

PAWTUCKET — While saying that he intends to be open minded about hearing options at an upcoming meeting, Mayor Donald Grebien has made it clear that he thinks the School Department must take responsibility in addressing an unexpected deficit of $1.5 or more that has arisen as the 2012 school budget is being closed out.

Man arrested for violating new body armor law

PAWTUCKET — A Pawtucket man with convictions for attempted murder and narcotics charges in Puerto Rico was arrested by State Police Monday under a new law that makes it a crime to possess body armor after a crime of violence.
Antonio E. Limardo, 34, of 42 Webster St., was also in possession of a 9mm handgun, a knife and pepper spray, state police said.

Born in Providence, he was the son of Donald R. and Patricia A. (Perry) Lawrence of Pawtucket.

PAWTUCKET - Martha F. (DeRoche) Bibby-Boucher, 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 5, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Conrad "Butch" O. Boucher.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Annie (Tally) DeRoche. She leaves three children, Sandra Mellen, Walter Bibby and Michael R. Bibby, Sr. all of Pawtucket; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

PAWTUCKET - Annette Lust passed away at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center on August 3, 2012 at the age of 70.
She is survived by her husband Paul Mowrey, brothers George and Dirk, sisters Hannelore and Angelika and children Paco, Gustavo, Friedrika and Stephanie, together with 6 grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews.

CUMBERLAND - Manuel Ferreira, 74, of Broad Street passed away Friday in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of Adozinda (Saraiva) Ferreira
Born in Pinhancos, Portugal he was the son of he late Antonio and Maximina (Santos) Ferreira. He resided in Cumberland for the past 10 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
He was employed at the former Central Braid, Central Falls until his retirement.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Searles) Burns. She was a school bus monitor in Central Falls School Department for eighteen years, retiring in 2004.

When Boggs’ promotion came after almost six years in the minors, he felt he had learned everything he needed to begin his big-league career.
