These days a fixture in Pawtucketâ€™s bullpen, Fields generally sits at 93-95 miles per hour with his fastball occasionally touching 96 mph.
Maria G. Afonso
CENTRAL FALLS- Maria G. (Gomes) Afonso, 94, of Washington St. passed away Thursday in the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland. She was the beloved wife of the late Abilio Afonso.
Born in Cov as, de Barroso, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Aflredo and Victoria ( Afonso ) Gomes. She had resided in Central Falls most of her life.
Mrs. Afonso was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Robert W. Briggs
LINCOLN - Robert W. Briggs, 92, of Sir Charles Drive died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Emerald Bay Manor, Cumberland. He was the husband of the late Lorraine E. (Block) Briggs.
Born in Rockland, MA, a son of the late George E. and Annie M. (Wright) Briggs, he had lived in Lincoln for the past 52 years.
Mr. Briggs worked in the stock room of Blackstone Valley Electric Company, Lincoln before retiring.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of VFW Post #8018.
A 32nd Degree mason, he was a member of Paul Revere Lodge, A.F. & A.M., Brockton, MA.
Antonio Alberto Cabral
VIRGINIA BEACH - Antonio Alberto Cabral, 54, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 28, 2012.
Born on August 15, 1958, in Muxagata, Fornos de Algodres, Portugal. He was the son of the late Fernando and Albertina Cabral.
Tony was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He will be forever remembered for his charismatic and dynamic presence and for his loving nature.
Doris S. Craven
SEEKONK- Doris S. (Crowther) Craven, 88, formerly of Maynard Ave., passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Craven.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Eric L. and Beatrice (Entwistle) Crowther, she resided in Seekonk most of her life.
Doris leaves two daughters, Lorel A. Paquette and her husband, Paul of Athol, MA and Mary-Jayne Foster of Foster, RI; three grandsons, Michael Paquette, Shayne Foster and Derrick Foster and a great-grandson, Matthew Paquette. She was the sister of the late Betty Priddy.
