Ex-SRA star Iannetta's back in the saddle with Angels

BOSTON — There’s bringing a player up to speed after he’s been out for a lengthy stretch due to injury. Then there’s the term that Angels manager Mike Scioscia used in describing the heightened state of urgency Chris Iannetta finds himself in after missing 2 1/2 months with a broken bone in his right hand.
“You can study and simulate stuff all you want, but when you get behind the plate, you’re like that jockey on a saddle,” Scioscia explained prior to Tuesday’s Red Sox-Angels game at Fenway Park. “That’s the feeling you need and that’s where Chris needs the time in order to come together.”

Commitment: C.F. gridders tidy up Calcutt courtyard

CENTRAL FALLS — On the morning of Tuesday, July 16, Central Falls High head football coach Mo Jackson walked into his new classroom 107 at Calcutt Middle School and looked out a window bordering the courtyard.
His first thought: What courtyard?
“I was doing some summer programs, and I wanted to get the room ready for the kids,” admitted Jackson, who discovered since school year's end that he would be a new teacher's assistant and behavioral specialist at Calcutt. “I popped open the window, and I couldn't see anything. It looked like a jungle. I thought, 'My God, what happened to it?'

Robert Fay

PAWTUCKET - Robert Fay, 77, of Lowell Avenue, Pawtucket, passed away on August 21, 2012 at his home. He was born in Pawtucket to the late John E. and Agnes (Boland) Fay.
Robert was a retiree from the US Naval Reserves and worked in Security for many years at Lincoln Downs Racing Association, Narragansett Park and Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Local 251 Teamsters Union and was a fan of the Yankees and Patriots as well as being a thoroughbred racing enthusiast and enjoyed walking on the beach admiring the sunsets.

PAWTUCKET: William E. Chiaverini Sr, 73, passed August 20th at home with his loving family by his side. He was husband of Margaret (Moffat) Chiaverini. They have been married for 47 years.
He was the son of the late William and Alice (Hamel) Chiaverini.
He had been employed as a driver by YCN Transportation for many years.

PAWTUCKET - Stella Kalenkiewicz, 96, passed away Monday August 20, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Kalenkiewicz.
Born in Fall River, MA she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Wybraniec) Sypek.
Before retiring in 1980 she was employed as a Box Maker for the Douglas Young Co.
She was a member of St. Leo's Church Seniors.
Stella leaves nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alice Winiarski, Amelia Rodowicz, Stephen and Frederick Sypek.

Motorcyclist rushed to hospital after accident

CENTRAL FALLS — The Police Department is investigating a motorcycle accident resulting in serious bodily injury that occurred Monday at 2:46pm, on Pine Street at Crossman Street.
The victim has been identified as Mario Erazo Vicente (29) of 28 Cleveland Street, Central Falls. He was operating a 2005 Honda CBR motorcycle that had been traveling north on Pine Street. Vicente was ejected from the motorcycle as he entered the intersection.
