Falowo fights tough Texas middleweight tonight

LINCOLN — The last time local fight fans saw Thomas Falowo in action, they were in an uproar over the split decision victory awarded to his opponent, Samuel Clarkson of Cedar Hill, Texas.
In that middleweight fight back on May 24 at Twin River, Falowo not only ruled four of the six rounds, but he also delivered a first-round knockdown.
And while Clarkson ended the night looking like he’d tussled in a 12-round slugfest, Falowo had barely a scratch on him.

Iglesias, Linares are PawSox's 'Cuban Connection'

PAWTUCKET — The sight of Jose Iglesias and J.C. Linares engaging in playful banter in their native tongue often leads to one or both players breaking out into mischievous smiles. Usually the exchange is often loud enough that everyone in the PawSox clubhouse is aware that Iglesias and Linares are up to their old tricks.
Then again, not everyone can understand what is actually being discussed, so it’s like Iglesias and Linares are the only ones in the room, operating in a universe that only a select few have the privilege of completely understanding.

RUMFORD - Colman S. Green Jr. of Rumford Towers, 90, passed away on Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Lynn Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Florence A. Green.
He leaves behind a daughter Beatrice M. Rescigno, four grandchildren and two great grandsons.
There will be no calling hours.

NORTH KINGSTON - Beaven, Helen J. (Diehl, Whitaker), 95, a resident of Pojac Point, North Kingstown, for 66 years, passed away on July 14th at Westview Health Care Center, West Warwick, after a brief illness.
She was born to the late John Frederick and Annie (Monahan) Diehl in Pawtucket, RI. After her mother's death in the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, she was adopted and raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, the late Eva (Monahan) and Silas Whitaker, whom she regarded as her parents.

PAWTUCKET - Kenneth J. Brown, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Sandra E. (Blue) Brown.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary (Smith) Brown. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Ken also gave the generous gift of life through organ donation at the New England Organ Bank.
