Tolman falls to Central in extra innings

PROVIDENCE — Tolman High head coach Theo Murray wasn’t thrilled with the result, but just had to praise his troops for their ability and want to battle back.
Trailing 6-0, the Tigers tallied two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to knot it, but the Knights scored an unearned run in the back half of the eighth to clinch a wild 7-6 triumph at Joe Williams Field early Tuesday afternoon.

Constantino recalls hot day at Boston Marathon

Dave Constantino has been competing in marathons for a decade, and when it came down to recalling the hottest ones he has run, the Cumberland resident didn’t hesitate to bring up the 26.2-mile adventure he encountered on Monday at the Boston Marathon.
“That was probably the hottest marathon I have ever done out of the 10 years I have been competing,” Constantino said on Tuesday morning while he was “recuperating” at Scarborough Beach. “That was unbelievable. It was a tough one. It was a tough one for everybody.”

License of Pawtucket doctor suspended

PAWTUCKET — The Rhode Island Department of Health has issued a consent order suspending the license of a city-based physician, Fredy P. Roland, Jr., MD, for one year. Under the conditions of the suspension, Roland can continue to practice medicine, but cannot prescribe certain controlled substances.

RI EDC redesignates enterprise zone

PAWTUCKET — Mayor Donald R. Grebien has announced that the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation’s Enterprise Zone Council has re-designated the Pawtucket/Lincoln Enterprise Zone for another five years. Firms located in the enterprise zone, one of 10 in Rhode Island, are eligible to receive a maximum credit of $5,000 per enterprise zone resident employee and $2,500 for other enterprise zone employees. The new hires must be Rhode Island residents and the jobs must be classified as full-time.

PAWTUCKET- Stacia "Mimi" J. (Gula) Choiniere, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2012. She was beloved wife of the late Emile E. Choiniere, together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Nemax) Gula.
Mimi worked as a print specialist and office clerk at Carol Cable for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

PAWTUCKET- Irma F. Oliveira, 54, passed April 17th with her loving family by her side.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Arnaldo and Irma (Gomes) Andrade.
She had been employed by Providence Metalizing for eight years than Cintas for the past two years.
She is survived by two sons, Edalio and Stephan Oliveira, a daughter Aisha Gamboa, and her longtime companion Joao Gamboa, three sisters, Rita Andrade, Zulmira Alves and Beatrice Andrade, five brothers, Paul, Carlos, Anildo, Amancio and Agui Andrade and many nieces and nephews.

ATTLEBORO- George T. Allen Jr. of Attleboro, MA, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA.
Mr. Allen was born in Providence, the son of the late George T. Allen Sr. and Elizabeth H. Gifford.
He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Allen was a longtime member of the Captain Elwood J. Euart Post, Pawtucket, He was a foreman at American Insulated Wire for many years and a longtime bartender at the Latin Quarter Lounge, Pawtucket.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late John McKinley and Rita (Oldfield) McKinley-Duffy, and step-daughter of the late Eugene Duffy. She had lived most of her life in Woonsocket.
