Japanese students shadow JMW students for a day

PAWTUCKET — The city's arts high school was on the itinerary of a visiting group of students from Japan this week as part of an effort to give them a snapshot of American culture.
Thirty-two 16- and 17-year-olds from the Happy Science Academy in Tochigi, Japan spent a day “shadowing” students from the Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Visual and Performing Arts. The boarding school, affiliated with the Happy Science religious organization, houses students in grades 7 through 12.

CUMBERLAND- Antonio Silvestre, 86, of Forest Avenue, passed away Thursday in the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Isaura (Cristina) Silvestre.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Manuel and Rosalina (Amaral) Silvestre.
Mr. Silvestre was a self-employed carpenter for many years until retirement.
He loved to read, watch television, especially soccer.

MINDEN, NV- Joseph D. Cardosi, of Minden, NV, passed away on March 21 after a sudden illness.
A memorial service was held on March 29 at 10.00 am at Saint Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville, NV followed by burial at Eastside Cemetery in Minden.
Mr. Cardosi was born on February 13, 1943 in Pawtucket,
