PROVIDENCE --- Kevin Hallâs second goal of the game, a shorthanded tally with 5:54 to play, lifted East Providence to a 4-3 victory over Mount Hope on Thursday night in the opening game of their best-of-three Division III championship series at Providence Collegeâs Schneider Arena.
The Townies (17-4) will seek their first state title since 2005 tonight at 8:30 p.m. when the series resumes at Schneider. A third and deciding game will be held on Sunday at a time to be announced if the Huskies win this game.
CRANSTON --- After losing his last three fights over the past 24 months as a lightweight fighter, can a change in weight class result in a change of fortunes for Eddie Soto?
The Pawtucket fighter and his camp at 401 Boxing in Cranston certainly think so.
Soto, who spent the first seven years of his pro career fighting at 135 pounds, is moving up two classes to the 145-pound welterweight circuit and making his debut in this division next Thursday night on the âHome Invasionâ show, presented by Jimmy Burchfieldâs Classic Entertainment & Sports, at the Twin River Event Center.

Chafee unveiled his proposal of a legislative package aimed at reforming municipal pension plans run by the State and by cities and towns and providing other types of financial relief from state mandates.
BILLERICA, MA- Maureen (Bonaventure) Rahill. A Loving Wife, Mother, Daughter and Sister passed away at home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after her courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Paul Rahill.
Maureen was a daughter of John and Rose (Rafferty) Bonaventure and lived in Pawtucket before moving to Billerica, MA in 1994. She was a graduate of Tolman High School Class of 1981 and a graduate of Rhode Island College.
PAWTUCKET- Dennis McGettigan, 75, passed March 13th at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marjorie A. (Pelrine) McGettigan.
Born in April 7, 1936 in Quincy, MA he was a son of the late Dennis James and Isabell "Ella" (Douglas) McGettigan.
He had been employed by Motorola for over 20 years and then worked several years for Mallinckrodt.
Dennis was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
STOUGHTON, MA- Victor Dino, 76, retired owner of Dino Buick in Stoughton, MA, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, in Stoughton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Patricia Lee (Audette) Dino.
Born and raised in Central Falls, he was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln.
Ernest O. Menard
PAWTUCKET- Ernest O. Menard, 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
He was the beloved husband of Doloris P. (Rattey) Menard for 63 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Oscar and Alice (Bergeron) Menard. Ernest was a World War II, US Navy veteran. He worked at the Washburn Wire Co., over 26 years until his retirement.
