PAWTUCKET – Friday night saw North Kingstown lay out a blueprint that took St. Raphael Academy far away from its comfort zone. Time will tell if the Saints will be able to react with a counterpunch that places them back in the realm set aside for championship contenders.
WOONSOCKET --- Pilgrim didn’t win the battle of numbers on Friday night, but the Patriots won a very big game against Cumberland, a ‘W’ that vaulted them over the Clippers and into first place in the Division II-North standings.
Senior center Cody Weaver’s second goal of the game with 2:14 to play in the game lifted the visiting Patriots to a hard-fought 3-2 triumph in a battle of two shorthanded teams at Adelard Arena.
PAWTUCKET – The look on the face of Burrillville High coach Lindsay Rachlow said it all. She wasn’t out there with her players during Friday night’s Division II-North contest with Tolman, but she certainly showed the exhaustion of playing a fierce battle with the Tigers.
It was a battle that her Broncos managed to win, eking out a 48-47 victory over Tolman before its typically-loud fan base at the Donaldson Gymnasium.
PROVIDENCE – A plan to expand the Pawtucket Arts District throughout Central Falls and into much of the southern part of Cumberland was laid out for the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday.
The legislation, which would exempt artistic works – books, paintings, songs, sculpture, dance and other creations – was touted by its sponsor, Central Falls Sen. Elizabeth Crowley, as another tool to allow cities and towns to bring business and culture to their communities. A duplicate bill was introduced in the House by Central Falls Rep. Agostinho Silva but has not been scheduled for a hearing.
PROVIDENCE — The 60 participants in the 2012 class of Leadership Rhode Island have an ambitious assignment: effect positive change in the bankrupt city of Central Falls.
