WOONSOCKET â Speaking at a business development forum Thursday, Gov. Lincoln Chafee hinted that he might withdraw his proposed hike in the meals and beverage tax if new revenue forecasts due in May are high enough.
âWeâre hoping with those new revenue estimates we can work on the meals and beverage tax,â Chafee said. âLetâs hope those May numbers continue the positive trend theyâre on.â

PAWTUCKET- Kathryn R. Breault, 74, of Anthony Avenue, Pawtucket died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at home after a three year courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Louis Breault.
Mrs. Breault was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Martin and Ceceila (Coyne) O'Brien. She was employed by the Pawtucket School Department for many years.
Mrs. Breault was the secretary for the Parish Council at St. Jean-Baptiste Parish in Pawtucket as well as the Past President of the Women's Guild there.
PLAINVILLE, MA- Janice (Pollard) Goyette, 76, long time resident of Plainville passed away Tuesday February 21, 2012 surrounded by her loving family in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Goyette.
Born May 25, 1935 in Cumberland, Rhode Island daughter of the late George Pollard and Alice (Eccles) Pollard Gonyeo and her husband William Gonyeo
She grew up in Cumberland and was a graduate of Cumberland High School.

On Thursday the Interscholastic League released where the corresponding regions will be heading for the Round of 16 should they safely navigate out of this weekendâs first-round slate of games. The North region will dock at CCRI-Warwick next Tuesday; the South region will play out at Bryant University next Tuesday; the East region heads to Bryant University next Wednesday; the West region is set for next Wednesday at CCRI-Warwick.
