Clippers clamp down on Novans

For the first time since the 2010-11 campaign, the Clippers had manufactured a regular-season triumph, this one a sloppy 38-22 affair against Division I-North rival Woonsocket on Thursday night.

EAST PROVIDENCE - After sweating out back-to-back nailbiters that weren’t decided until the final seconds, East Providence was able to relax a bit on Thursday night and enjoy a blowout victory.
Sparked by a game-high 17 points from Mary Monagle and 14 points and as many rebounds by Taylor Wiggins, the Townies, who are back in Division II after a two-year stint in Division I, ran their young league record to 2-0 by rolling to a 58-38 crossover victory over Burrillville on their home floor.

Police make arrest in carjacking

PAWTUCKET — Police say the man suspected in a car-jacking that took place in front of the Pawtucket Post Office on Monday afternoon has been caught.
The female victim told Pawtucket Police that she had been sitting in her parked car in front of the Post Office at 40 Montgomery Street at around 4:35 p.m. when a white male opened the door and pulled her out of the vehicle. The male then entered her vehicle and drove away. The victim reported that her purse had been left in the vehicle which contained cash, personal papers, credit cards and her cell phone.

Pawtucket poet welcomes new son on 12-12-12

PAWTUCKET — Local poet and performance artist Jay Chattelle is known for exploring the spirituality and symbolism in everyday life. So, having his son born on “12-12-12” was especially meaningful.
“His birthday will be on a magical date. They said this isn't going to happen again for another 100 years,” said the proud father.

James L. Reilly, Sr.

PAWTUCKET - James L. Reilly, Sr., 64, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 13, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. (McKenna) Reilly for 38 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of Madge (Lawton) Renex of Pawtucket and the late James B. Reilly. Jim was a US Navy and US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by American Automatic Door and was the Saturday daytime bartender at the Polish-American Club on Annie St., Pawtucket.

Armando A. Sousa

CENTRAL FALLS - Armando A. Sousa, 76 of Central Falls died Sunday at the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital. He is the husband of Paulina (Mendes) Sousa. He is the son of the late Maximino and Serafina (Rodrigues) Sousa. Born in the Azores, he came to the United States in 1971 and settled in Pawtucket. Armando moved to Central Falls in 2007.
Prior to his retirement, Armando worked as a butcher at Portion Meats in Providence, RI.
