City employees, some elected officials, including Mayor Donald Grebien, and other volunteers helped serve food to local seniors and other members of the community on Monday at the annual Mayor's Holiday Dinner held at the Portuguese Social Club, 131 School St. The annual event, free and open to all city residents, is made possible through donations of money, food and service from area businesses and individuals. Key sponsors this year were Pawtucket Credit Union, Washington Trust and Bristol County Savings Bank.
PAWTUCKET â€” Thanks to modern technology and the Internet, about 20 Shea High School students had the chance to interact through live video with students in the Dominican Republic on Thursday as part of this year's Lifetouch Memory Mission project.
Shea was one of three Rhode Island schools that participated in the 20-minute interactive chat with students from an elementary school in the rural town of Constanza in the Dominican Republic.
PAWTUCKET - Bernard Wiker, 91, passed away Monday December 10, 2012 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Wiewura) Wiker. They were married for 63 years.
Born in Kingston, NH, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Koczera) Wiker. He lived in Pawtucket for the past 65 years.
Before retiring he was employed as Parts Manager for the former Choquette Appliance Co. for 37 years.
He was a WWII Army Veteran serving as a Captain with the Hospital Corps training section. He was a member of the DAV
John N. Campbell, Jr.
CUMBERLAND - John N. Campbell, Jr., 80, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia A. (Neuschuez) Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 15.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late John N. and Grace (Hampson) Campbell, he had lived in Cumberland for the past 43 years. They summered in Buttonwoods for many years.
Donna M. Sammartino
CUMBERLAND - Donna M. Sammartino, 59, of Philip Ave., passed away Sunday in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Mark Sammartino.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Donald and Odette (Cardanha) Crowe of Cumberland. Mrs. Sammartino was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Mary Connie Crosby
CENTRAL FALLS - Mary Connie Crosby, one of six children born to the late Bento and Antonia Fernandes. She settled in Central Falls in 1940 and supported her children working as an assembler at Hasbro.
She leaves her devoted children, Jerry Crosby of Pawtucket and Eileen and loving son-in-law Jim McGowan and Granddog Max of Seekonk.
She had lived at Blackstone Falls where she was an active member of the tenants association. She was loving, caring, had a great sense of humor and deep faith. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
PAWTUCKET - Deborah Allen, 52, passed December 8th. She was the daughter of the late Leon A. Plouff Jr. and Maureen (Miniati) Plouff.
She Is survived by four children, Tracey Allen, Daniel Allen Jr, Jesse Allen and Kimberly Njie all of Pawtucket, two grandchildren, Ame Njie and Trachen Johnson, four sisters, Donna Plouff, Doreen Ledo, Denise Davis all of Pawtucket and Margaret "Gidget" Grivers of Lincoln, three brothers, Leon "Kip" Plouff III of Cumberland, Henry Plouff of Pawtucket and Russell Plouff Sr. of Seekonk and many nieces and nephews.

PAWTUCKET - Helen A. Ball, 96, passed December 7, 2012. She was the wife of the late William J. Ball Jr.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late John F. and Agnes (Shockroo) King.
She was a Charter Member of St. Leo Senior Citizens and the Fogarty Manor Association.
Dorothy E. Ward
DEDHAM, MA - Dorothy E. (Davis) Ward, 83, of Dedham, MA and formerly of West Roxbury, MA, Seekonk, MA and Pawtucket, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Ward.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edica (Moore) Davis. Dorothy was a member of the former St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Pawtucket, RI and had also been active in the Rhode Island Heart Association and the Easter Seal Stroke Club.
