Turkey has come a long way

Take a good look at that bird you’re about to slice today.
Look familiar?
Maybe not. But it should.
In the race for top billing among America’s most-consumed meat and poultry products, the venerable turkey still trots far behind chicken, beef and pork.
But turkey’s made some great strides in recent years, and it’s no thanks to Thanksgiving Day.

2 shootings in 2 days on 1 street

PAWTUCKET — The Pawtucket Police are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred in two days on the same street. Yet, they say the incidents do not appear to be related at this time.
According to Major Arthur Martins, the first incident occurred on Nov. 19 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Witnesses told officers that the occupant or occupants of a small vehicle had shot at the occupants of a sport utility vehicle in the vicinity of Merrick Street near Main Street.

PAWTUCKET - Albert J. Lamarre Jr., 85, of Pawtucket, passed away at home on Saturday, November 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marilyn (Arthur) Lamarre and the late Doris (Deslongchamps) Lamarre.

CUMBERLAND - Bertrand T. Dickey, who celebrated his 100th birthday on Nov. 11th, died Monday at Grandview Health Center, Cumberland. He was the husband of the late Beatrice B. (Pinault) Dickey. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Thomas W. and Sarah (Morgan) Dickey. Mr. Dickey lived in Cumberland most of his life.
He was employed for Standard Nut & Bolt Com for 12 years until his retirement. He had previously been employed for 25 years as a driver for Gorman's Bakery.
Mr. Dickey was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Teamster's Union.

PAWTUCKET - Richard J. "DICK" Herchel, 74, passed away at Woonsocket Health Centre on Saturday November 17, 2012, of Alzheimer's Disease. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket he was a son of the late Wawrzyniec and Bronislawa Herchel.
Before retiring in 1999, Dick had been employed by the State of Rhode Island as a warehouse worker for 20 years. He was a member of Council 94, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). He served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years from 1958 to 1960.

PAWTUCKET - Ellen B. Wallor, 94, passed away peacefully Sunday November 18, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Wallor.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Rygielski) Fedo. She lived in Pawtucket for the past 61 years.

PAWTUCKET — Barbie and John Cena are two names that “Santa to the Stars” Brady White heard repeatedly Monday night as he spoke to children at The Times “Photos with Santa” event. The enduring fashion doll and merchandise related to live wrestling superstar John Cena topped holiday wish lists this year which also included requests for new and classic toys, the latest technological gizmos and a few real life pets.
