Marina B. Lussier
ANSONIA, CT - Marina B. Lussier, 84, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 10, 2012, at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Lussier was born in Pawtucket, RI on September 29, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Juanita Castro Blanco. She was a self-employed make-up and skin care representative for Lady Finelle Cosmetics for many years until her retirement. Marina loved to travel, especially on cruises. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo and most certainly lived life to its fullest.

CUMBERLAND - Doris A. Belair (Dot/Auntie Doris), 91, beloved wife of the late Edmond Belair died peacefully in her Cumberland home on Monday, October 8, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16th at 10 am at St. Aidan's Catholic Church, Cumberland, RI. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Constance M. Brochu
PAWTUCKET - Constance M. Brochu, 80, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012. She was the wife of Marcel Brochu.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Maria (Giroux) Fontaine. Constance lived most of her life in Pawtucket. She was a director at B.V. Emergency Food Center for twenty two years.
Besides her husband she is survived by three children, Mark and Alfred Brochu, and Elizabeth Morgan; three sisters, Jeannette Laporte, Yvette Logan, and Pauline Fontaine; one brother, Omer Fontaine; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Timothy J. Shields
SEEKONK - Timothy "TJ" J. Shields, 46, passed away after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Kathie S. (Cabral) Shields for twenty years.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of William M. Shields of Pawtucket and the late Muriel R. (Kittredge) Shields, and the stepson of Dulce Shields of Pawtucket.
Lucy A. Lumnah
PAWTUCKET - Lucy A. Lumnah, 86, of Pawtucket, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012. She was the wife of the late Eugene Lumnah. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Claremonde and Lucy (Campbell) Duarte.
She is survived by two sons, John and Raymond Lumnah; two daughters, Darleen Seward and Shayne Almeida; one brother, Arthur Duarte; eleven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louis, Robert, and Edmond Duarte, and Blondie Lafond.
Jose F. De Sousa
PAWTUCKET - De Sousa, Jose F., age 74, died October 12, 2012 at Pawtucket Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Doralice (Gomes) De Sousa. They were married for 46 years.
He is survived by his son Jaime De Sousa and his wife Doreen and 4 grandchildren all of Lincoln, 3 brothers and 3 sisters all of Toronto.
Yvette R. Riendeau
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Yvette R. Riendeau, 100, died peacefully at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield on Thursday, October 11, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Alphonse 'Al' Riendeau. Mrs. Riendeau was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Philias and Celina (Bessette) Benoit and was a lifelong resident of the Blackstone Valley.
Mrs. Riendeau was a homemaker and her home and family were the centers of her life. She was an avid bowler, golfer, and bridge player.
The high school football season will meet its halfway point this weekend, which means a large dose of non-league games and a few league matchups on the areaâs docket.
Eight games make up this weekâs schedule, with tonightâs Division II crossover game between II-B team Cumberland and II-A squad Mount Hope in Bristol and tomorrowâs Division IV duel between Central Falls and Hope in Providence highlighting the top local games.
NORTH SMITHFIELD â It was a simple question, and North Smithfield High head coach Jeremy Sherer responded in kind.
When asked if he was satisfied with his Northmenâs 2-0 Division II victory over East Providence early Thursday evening, he stated merely, âNo.â
He claimed he had good reason.
âYou know, weâve had two really good wins this year; the first one against Pilgrim, and the second against Tiverton,â he elaborated. âTheyâre both very strong teams, and when we play those types of teams, we do very well. In big games, we step it up a couple of notches.
PROVIDENCEâ Following a nine-day trial of often graphic testimony, Armando Garcia, 32, with a last known address of 486 Mineral Spring Ave., Pawtucket, was found guilty Thursday of the murder of 30-year-old Brooke Lee Verdoia by a Providence County Superior Court jury.
The jury deliberated for five hours before returning with the verdict, finding Garcia guilty of murder, failure to report a death and driving a motor vehicle without consent of the owner. The trial was presided over by Superior Court Justice Susan E. McGuirl.
PAWTUCKET â Saying there are too many unanswered questions, the City Council on Wednesday voted 6 to 2 to support a resolution calling for an inquiry into the proposal to privatize the city's trash pick-up services before any action is taken on the matter.
Lillian V. Andrade
PAWTUCKET - Lillian V. (Allard) Andrade, 83, of Goff Avenue died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at home.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Omer and Lydia (Lemieux) Allard, she had lived in Pawtucket for the past 57 years.
Mrs. Andrade was an assembler at Hasbro for 25 years, retiring in 1991.
Gertrude A. Ethier
MILLVILLE - Gertrude A. (George) Ethier, 90, passed away Wed. Oct. 10 after an illness.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Mon. Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge will be Sun. Oct. 14 from 5-8 p.m. and Mon. Oct. 15 from 9:30-10:30.

PAWTUCKET - Robert "Champ" Farrelly, 74, of Pawtucket, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lavina (Bonnier) Farrelly. Robert was a member of the Arc of Blackstone Valley. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Lawson of Pawtucket.
PAWTUCKET â A Japonica Street teenager was injured on Saturday after he accidentally dropped an illegal shotgun that he was showing to a friend and it went off, striking him in the arm.
According to Pawtucket Police Major Arthur Martins, the victim, 18-year-old Eric Dossantos, was inside his apartment when the incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m. He suffered what was described as a serious wound to his arm and was transported to a local hospital, Martins said.
WOONSOCKET -- Back on Friday, Sept. 14, Tolman High senior Ashley Clark registered five goals in a rather easy 9-1 thumping of Woonsocket at the McKinnon-Alves Complex.
She failed in her attempt to repeat that feat during the two teamsâ Division III-A rematch at Barry Field on rainy Wednesday afternoon.
Still, head coach Bel Pereira didnât mind a bit; why would he? Clark netted four tallies and senior defender Amber Duhamel did a superb job of defending the Villa Novansâ stellar senior quad-captain and striker Krislyn Godin in the Tigersâ 6-2 triumph.

CENTRAL FALLS - Mary Anna Kando ("Babci"), 88, a lifelong resident of Central Falls, RI passed away on Sunday at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Kando. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Anna (Slowek) Polit. Mrs. Kando worked for many years in the Jewelry industry.
Mary A. Mikucki
CUMBERLAND - Mary A. Mikucki, 98, of Bryant Street passed away Sunday October 7, 2012 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Mikucki.
Born in Putnam, CT she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Mroz) Grejdus. Mrs. Mikucki lived in Cumberland for the past 70 years and was formerly of Central Falls.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church Holy Rosary Society.
Yolande M. Simoneau
AWTUCKET: Yolande M. Simoneau, 88, passed peacefully on October 6th.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Berthe (Lupien) Simoneau.
She had been employed as an office manager by John Hancock Life Insurance Company and had also worked as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Albert Tetreault of Providence.
She resided the past 30 years in South County and enjoyed her six year stay at Brightview Commons in Wakefield. She was a former longtime resident of Pidge Ave, Pawtucket.
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Edith Harrison 97, resident of North Smithfield, passed away October 5, 2012 at the Friendly Home in Woonsocket.
She was born in Glendale, a daughter of the late John & Selma (Simoneau) Harrison.
Edith worked many years in the textile industry as a worsted mender, retiring from the former Worcester Textile Co. after more than 20 years; she fully retired at the age of 91 from the Senior Services after 20 years.
