PAWTUCKET â€” Under normal circumstances, Tolman High veteran head coach Bel Pereira would be both irked and disappointed after his girls suffered a defeat, but that was hardly the case after the Tigers fell to Middletown, 4-3, in a Division III-A tilt on Wednesday night.
â€śIf we had tied them, that certainly would've been a moral victory,â€ť Pereira stated later. â€śWe played probably the best team in all of Division III, and it was a great effort â€“ actually, an outstanding effort â€“ by the girls.
CUMBERLAND - Mary Wudyka, 94 of Pleasant Street passed away Monday in Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Wudyka Sr.
Born in Warren, MA., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Masto) Polak. She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
She was employed as a spinner for the former Lebanon Knitting Mill of Pawtucket for 16 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland.
Carmelo A. Perroni
PROVIDENCE - Carmelo A. Perroni of Riverdale Street, Providence died October 21, 2012 at the Rhode Island Veterans Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Iolanda Perroni.
Mr. Perroni was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Joseph Perroni and Rosina (Silvestri) Perroni
He was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII serving in the Japanese Theatre.
Besides his wife Carmelo leaves his daughters, Joyce Gilheeney of Providence and Katherine Pescarino of Pawtucket. He also leaves a son Charles McNally of Central Falls.
PAWTUCKET - Stephen Dion, 54, of Pawtucket, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012. Born in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Henry and Patricia (Trahan) Dion. Stephen was a former Pawtucket firefighter and a dedicated coach for many of the areas youth and high school football teams.
He is survived by three brothers, Russell, Keith, and James Dion, and one sister, Helene Dion-Dufresne.
Marion F. Nolin
LINCOLN - Marion F. "Aunt Marion" Nolin, 86, died October 22, 2012 after an illness.
Born and raised in Lincoln, she was a beloved daughter of the late Charles and Mary (McGuinniss) Nolin.
Miss Nolin enjoyed her family and work. She worked for an advertising agency in Providence and her family benefited from her work as they received tickets in the front row for special events. Marion devoted herself to her family and St. Jude's Church of Lincoln.
She was a graduate of Holy Trinity School and was a high school graduate of St. Xavier Academy.
Juliet M. Mello
PAWTUCKET - Juliet M. Mello of Glen Meadows Drive, Pawtucket died Tuesday, October 23, 2012. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Mello Jr.
Mrs. Mello was born in Bristol, the daughter of the late August Sousa and Angelina (Motta) Sousa. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mello is survived by her sons, Joseph E. Mello III and Michael A. Mello, both of Pawtucket. She also leaves a sister Lenora Tavares of Tiverton. She was the sister of the late Carmen Dubie, John Sousa, Manuel Sousa and Walter Sousa.
