PAWTUCKET â€” Charles Correa admits that Saturday, Jan. 7 has been in his sights the moment he first laid eyes on St. Raphaelâ€™s schedule.
As the date thatâ€™s been circled in red and ingrained in his mind draws near, Correaâ€™s competitive fire only intensifies. Come Saturday night at CCRI-Warwick, the 5-foot-8 junior will draw the assignment of shadowing New London (Conn.) High School senior and Providence College-bound Kris Dunn.
PROVIDENCE â€” When the General Assembly abruptly dropped the exemption of car values for local tax purposes from $6,000 to $500 last year, drivers suddenly hit with tax bills several times higher than they were before started paying attention to the way values are placed on their automobiles, and they didn't like what they saw.
CENTRAL FALLS â€” On Monday, Jan. 9, city residents will have a chance to speak about the controversial new overnight parking ban that state-appointed officials want to start enforcing next week. The appointed City Council will be holding a public hearing on the parking ban as part of its regular meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. at Central Falls City Hall.

PAWTUCKET - Eva M. (Houle) Hebert, 102, of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday January 1, 2012. She was the wife of the late Henry Hebert. Born in Canada, she was a daughter of the late Godfrey and Celendee (Beaudry) Houle. She had been a line worker with American. She is survived by two sons, Normand Hebert of Pawtucket and Rene Hebert of Newport, NC; six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was a sister of the late Amanda Genest, Alice Forget, Oliver Houle, George Houle, John Houle, Ellen Vaillencourt and Armand Houle.
BRUNSWICK, OH - Pauline Crawley, 64 of Brunswick, passed away on January 3, 2012 with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 31, 1947 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Arthur and Rose (nee Bolduc)Bissonnette.

PAWTUCKET - Robert R. Gilkenson, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Rousseau) Gilkenson for sixty-five years.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) â€” Mitt Romney eked out a minuscule 8-vote victory over Rick Santorum in Iowa's Republican presidential caucuses, the state party chairman said early Wednesday, ringing down the curtain on an improbable first act in the campaign to pick a challenger to President Barack Obama in the fall.
Appearing hours after the caucuses had ended, Matt Strawn said Romney had 30,015 votes, to 30,007 for Santorum, whose late surge carried him to a near win.
PAWTUCKET â€” When St. Raphael Academyâ€™s senior forward, Cesar Mejia, picked up his fourth personal foul early in the second half of Tuesday nightâ€™s Division I game with Cranston East, point guard Charles Correa had a bad thought.
â€śI thought we were in trouble without Cesar,â€ť Correa admitted.
Then Correa, arguably the best high school player in Rhode Island, had another thought.
