Woonsocket coaching staff pulling together

Carnell Henderson is aware of the burden he’s placed on his Woonsocket assistant coaches. The head coach, who continues to come along after undergoing surgery in early August to repair a torn tendon in quadriceps muscle of his left leg, knows that just like the players have to step up their game whenever there’s an absence, so too does his staff.
The idea is to keep things as close to the status quo as possible until Henderson returns to the sidelines, which he is optimistic will happen this season.

Tenants displaced by fire on Gordon Street

PAWTUCKET — An electrical fire that started in an attic displaced about 13 tenants in a four-unit apartment house at 192 Garden St. early Wednesday morning, fire officials said.
The call for the three-alarm blaze came in at around 5 a.m. According to Fire Capt. Steven Parent, the fire burned through much of the roof and caused extensive smoke and water damage throughout the wood frame house.
All of the tenants were able to escape and no one was injured, although two firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion, he said.

Antique diner rolls into Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET — Many of its Pullman car windows are broken or missing and its stainless steel has lost its luster, but Jonathan Savage was still pleased as punch Tuesday afternoon when the antique diner he recently acquired was delivered to his mill complex at 560 Mineral Spring Avenue.

PAWTUCKET - Christy N. Skodras, 64 of Pawtucket died Wednesday at Kent Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Nicholas Skodras.
Christy graduated from West High School and then attended East Coast Aero Tech in Massachusetts. He worked at General Dynamics where he also obtained his MBA.
He is survived by his mother, Eviginia Skodras; a sister, Catherine Bio; four children, Michael, Robert, Matthew and Melissa Skodras; a niece, Alexandria Bio and a nephew, Philip Bio.

CENTRAL FALLS - Laura M. (Dube) Leclerc, 99, of Central Falls entered eternal life on September 11, 2011 at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Alfred Leclerc. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alphonsine (Tondreau) Dube. Laura was a loving and devoted mother, "Memere", sister, aunt and friend. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

PROVIDENCE - Antonio J. Daluz, 84, passed September 14th.
Born in St. Antone, Cape Verde Island, he was a son of the late Antonio and Camila (Paris) Daluz.
Tony had worked at Ciba-Geigy Corp, of Cranston for 25 years before retiring in 1986. He was a WWII Army Veteran.
Tony enjoyed Golfing, loved the Red Sox and was a baseball card collector for many years.

ASHLAND, OREGON - Sean D. Martel, 48, passed away Friday September 9, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of Ruth A. (Johnston) Charron-Parkinson and her husband, Robin Parkinson of Hudson, FL and the late Richard A. Charron, and the biological son of Charles V. Martel, Sr. of Pawtucket. He resided in Rhode Island until moving to Oregon in 2005. Sean was an electrical engineer and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981 until 1989.
