PAWTUCKET â Seems like everyone is in agreement. Shea High once again has an extremely talented soccer team.
âShea is the best team in the state in terms of skills,â Providence Country Day coach Stacey DeCastro admitted on Monday after his shorthanded team dropped a one-sided 6-1 verdict to the Raiders.
âThere is one thing about Shea,â DeCastro added. âThe only one that can beat them is themselves. Sometimes they forget what they do best. I thought they were too casual today on our one goal.â

LINCOLN - Eleanor F. Read, 92, of Lincoln, died August 28th at The Holiday. She was the wife of the late Squire Read.
Born in Bridgeport CT, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Fearn ( Parker)Milligan. Her son Alfred Read of Central Falls, her daughter Meredyth F. Collemer of Barrington, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren survive her. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Madden. Her funeral and burial are private. Guestbook at
Joseph D. Durand
PAWTUCKET - Joseph "Doug" D. Durand, 63, of 156 Bear Hill Road, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Friday at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Doris (Gosselin) Durand.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Brown) Durand. He resided in Cumberland for the past 11 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Michael Joseph Patrick Kenny
PAWTUCKET - Michael Joseph Patrick Kenny, of Pawtucket died September 10, 2011.
Mr. Kenny was the husband of Helen (Motyl) Cusick-Kenny and the late Catherine (Gunning) Kenny.
Mr. Kenny was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Michael J. Kenny and Mary (Brennan) Kenny. He was a teacher and principal in the Pawtucket School system for many years.
Ameila M. Lopes
CUMBERLAND - Ameila M. Lopes, 86 of Roosevelt Road, passed Friday in Women & Infants Hopsital, Providence.
Born in Celorico Beira, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Albertina M. (Delgado) Lopes. She resided in Cumberland for many years, previously residing in Pawtucket after moving to this country in 1967.
Harry J. Gaumond
CUMBERLAND - Harry J. Gaumond, 92, of Philip Avenue, Cumberland passed away Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Blanche H. (Cribari) Gaumond.
Born in Shrewsbury, MA, he was the son of the late John and Eva (Wentworth) Gaumond.
Mr. Gaumond was employed as a truck driver, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 653.
He was a World War II, United States Army Air Corps veteran, serving our country from 1942 to 1946.
Rita Rae Taylor
PAWTUCKET - Taylor, Rita Rae (Venturini) Brodeur, 67, of Magill St., Pawtucket died Saturday at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of Gilbert G. Taylor and former spouse of Richard J. Brodeur, Sr. of Pawtucket.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Victor J and Shirley M. (Dugas) Venturini. Rita was a lifelong resident of the city, and was employed by the City of Pawtucket for 15 years as a Crossing Guard.
