LAWRENCEVILE, Ga. – The PawSox mustered just enough to deny the International League’s winningest pitcher, Julio Teheran, another decision Friday night. The Gwinnett Braves ace, who entered with a 12-2 record and a sparkling 1.11 ERA, nearly preserved a 2-1 lead through seven innings, but instead left with a 2-2 deadlock at hand.

BRISTOL, Ct. — Dave Belisle, who along with his dad Bill Belisle, was part of 26 state titles won by the Mount St. Charles Academy hockey team the last four decades, couldn’t help but make that analogy on Thursday night. Those five words were the first to come out of his mouth after the Cumberland American manager watched his squad hold on for an 8-7 semifinal win over Fairfield American in the New England Championship of the Eastern Regional Tournament.

RIVERSIDE - Joshua D. Wildenhain, of Earl Avenue, Riverside passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011. He was born in Pawtucket the son of Michael and Sheila J. (Marland) Wildenhain of Riverside.
Mr. Wildenhain was a student at Providence College. He had finished his junior year and was looking forward to his graduation in the spring of 2012.
Besides his parents Joshua leaves a brother Christopher Wildenhain of Riverside and his paternal grandparents David A. and Marceline Wildenhain. He was the grandson of the late Harold and Rita (Bradshaw) Marland.

He was the son of Jose P. and Jovita (Neves) Soares.
Alcides was employed by Donovan Plumbing for many years.
He is survived by his son, Quincy Soares, three brothers, Joe Soares, Tony Soares and John Soares, a sister, Rosa Osborne and several nieces and nephews.

PAWTUCKET - Rita M. Lacourse, 88, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Maurice Lacourse. They were happily married for sixty four years. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Emma (Girouard) Girouard. She had lived in Central Falls for twenty four years before moving to Pawtucket in 1950.

PAWTUCKET - Annette Z. Valliere, 88 died on Wednesday at Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket. Born in Pawtucket and a resident of the city for nearly sixty years, she was the wife of the late Donat Valliere and the daughter of the late Emile and Maria (St. Denis) Baril. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church, a devoted homemaker and enjoyed gardening.

Council OKs licenses for new sports pub

PAWTUCKET — A vacant Newport Avenue building that once housed a Chinese-style buffet will soon be taking on a new role as a sports pub.
On Wednesday, the City Council's Board of License Commissioners approved a Class A liquor license for MVP Sports Pub & Restaurant at 223 Newport Ave. Also on Wednesday, the City Council approved a victualling house license for the food side of the operation.
