Man arrested for animal cruelty

EAST PROVIDENCE —The man suspected of leaving a dog in deplorable health at the front door of the R.I. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals sometime Monday afternoon has been arrested by East Providence police, Lt. Michael David confirmed Wednesday.
Carlos Alvarez, 46, of Rehoboth, turned himself in at the East Providence Police Department late Wednesday morning, then was asked to meet with Dr. E.J. Finocchio, RISPCA President.

VENICE, FL - Gail O. Varone, 76, of Venice, Florida died Wednesday June 15, 2011. She was born on July 19, 1934 in Bellingham, MA to Henry and Rose (Gaulin) Dufour.
Mrs. Varone resided in Pawtucket for many years before moving to Cumberland and then to Venice, Florida. She was a hair stylist in the Blackstone Valley Area for many years and was co-owner of the former B&J Movers and Trailer Sales. She was employed by the State of Rhode Island in the State Archives prior to her retirement in 1997.

WOONSOCKET - Carla M. (Vigneau) Scott, 45, of Woonsocket passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 1, 2011 at home. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Evelyn (Donnelley) Vigneau.
She is survived by a son Ryan Goyette of Pawtucket; a sister, Dana Grenier of Johnston and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Shannon Vigneau.

WARREN - Helen M. (LaRiviere) Peloquin, formerly of Main Street Pawtucket, died peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Warren Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Warren, R.I. She was 88. Helen was the wife of the late Henry W. Peloquin and the late John Smodics, Jr.

PAWTUCKET - Roger "Red" R. Allard, 78, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 4, 2011. Roger has now been reunited with his beloved wife Catherine C. (Gaudette) Allard who passed away on March 31, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Roland H. and Mary E. (Grenier) Allard. Red was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

ATTLEBORO - Gengo, Cecile, 70, of Hillside Ave, passed July 3rd with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Gerald Gengo. They have been married for 51 years.
She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Irene (Lambert) Marchand.
She had been employed by Machine Specialties and Ocean State Job Lot for many years. Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Robert Gengo of Providence, two daughters, Diane Gengo and Patricia Seiber, two grandchildren, Joshua Gengo and Cody Seiber, a brother, Al Marchand and his wife Linda-Lee and several nieces and nephews.

PAWTUCKET - Germaine M. (Glancy) Boucher, 81, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Boucher.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Yvonne T. (Taupier) Glancy.
Germaine was employed by the Carlton Manufacturing Company, Central Falls for over 25 years before retiring in 1989.

PAWTUCKET - Whalen, Marjorie I., 80, of Pawtucket died July 3, 2011 at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Whalen, born in Central Falls, the daughter of the late James and Elsie (Long) Leary.
Marjorie leaves her son, Kenneth and his wife Lisa of Smithfield, her daughter, Katherine Carroll-Young and husband Ricky of Pawtucket, a sister, Beverly Smallwood of Pawtucket, three grand children, two step-grandchildren and two great-grand children. She was predeceased by her brother Lawrence R. Leary.
