LINCOLN â€” On their way to posting undefeated records in pool play of the District IV Little League All Star Tournament, Cumberland American and Lincoln combined to outscore their opponents by an 87-12 margin.
After their respective semifinal games on Tuesday night at Hien Field, the two powerhouse teams kept their records unblemished.
But it wasn't quite that easy.

PROVIDENCE: Joao F. (John) Pires was born November 8, 1976 in the Republic of Cape Verde. At the age of 8, John and his family immigrated to the U.S where he resided in Brockton, MA for 11 years. At the age of 19 John joined the US Army where he served honorably for 4 years. Upon his return from service, John moved to Rhode Island where he met and married Andrea Fontes. Andrea and John had twin sons. John was a resident of Providence, RI.

PAWTUCKET - Richard J. Martel, 56 of Pawtucket died at home on Friday (July 8). Born in Pawtucket, a son of Dorothy C. (Breault) Martel and of the late Joseph R. Martel, he had been a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to retirement about twelve years ago, he had been employed at the Metallon Company.
James M. Levasseur
NO. PROVIDENCE - James Michael Levasseur, 27, of May Street and also of Buttonwoods, Warwick, passed away tragically from injuries of an automobile accident in Warwick on Friday. He was the son of Daniel Levasseur of Pawtucket and Gail Delomba.
