William C. "Bill" Laramee, Sr.
CENTRAL FALLS: William C, "Bill" Laramee, Sr. 66, passed on June 2, 2011. He was the husband of Irene Laramee. They would have celebrated their 47th anniversary on June 19th.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Peter and Evelyn (Green) Laramee. He was a lifelong Central Falls resident.
Bill had been employed by the City of Central Falls Highway Department for 32 years before retiring in 2006. He loved to travel, grill for the family and was known for his antiquing and yard sales. He was an avid Yankees fan.
Florence Juliette Beauregard Smith (WITH PHOTO)
LINCOLN - Florence Juliette Beauregard Smith, died May 31, 2011 at age 96. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Paul Smith in 1989. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island in 1914, she lived fifty six years in Rhode Island and forty years in West Palm Beach, Florida. She had recently moved from West Palm Beach, Florida to Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Lucille G. Motyka
CENTRAL FALLS- Lucille G. Motyka 78, of George Street passed away Saturday May 28, 2011 at the Pawtucket Health And Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of John W. Motyka.
Born in New York City she was a daughter of the late Warren G. and Ruth (Hill) Hardy. She lived in Central Falls most of her life.
Besides her husband she leaves two loving sons John A. Motyka of North Providence, Stephen Motyka of Cumberland, one cherished grandson Stephen M. Motyka of Cumberland, one sister Lillian Byrne of Florida, nieces and nephews.
Eugenia P. Baptista
PAWTUCKET - Eugenia "Manininha" P. Baptista, 93, widow of Gualdino "Tino" B. Baptista, died May 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital In North Providence after a short illness. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, daughter of the late Manuel De Pina and Belmira Gomes De Pina, she resided in Pawtucket for 44 years. She was employed at New England Paper Tube Company for 15 year and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Alexander Daniel Torres
PAWTUCKET - Alexander Daniel Torres, infant son of Daniella Vega and Alex Torres. Born in Providence and passed away on Saturday.
Besides his parents he leaves 2 brothers Devonte Vega and Alex Torres Jr. He also leaves 2 sisters, Alexsya A. Torres and Alana Rose Vega. He also leaves his Maternal Grandfather, Claudio Vega and his Maternal Grandmother, the late Rosa Vega; Paternal Grandparents Luis E. Torres and Luz Maria Lopez.
CUMBERLAND â€“ Protesters turned out in force Tuesday morning for a rally designed to create more support in preventing the Valley Falls Post Office from closing on July 8.
Town resident Derrick Watson, who heads an organization named â€śThe Concerned Citizens of Valley Falls â€“ Save Our Post Office, indicated last Thursday that he had sent an approximate 34-page appeal to the Postal Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 22.
PAWTUCKET â€” Thanks to the school district receiving $1.1 million in state literacy funds that are no longer restricted, school officials say their latest deficit figure for the FY12 budget is now down to $1.2 million.
The approximately $100 million school budget for the coming year had originally contained a deficit of $7.3 million. That figure was then pared down to a deficit of $2.3 million in late April due to $4.9 million in contractual concessions and other reductions.
