PAWTUCKET â€” The City Council, mostly through attacking overtime, a few vacant positions and some cultural â€śnicetiesâ€ť that are considered to be expendable in these lean financial times, passed an amended fiscal year 2012 operating budget Wednesday night that chops $876,193 from what Mayor Donald Grebien had originally proposed.
PROVIDENCE â€” Legislation billed as another police tool to prevent and pursue Internet child pornography, but that privacy and civil liberties advocates worry will cast too wide a net for less serious crimes, passed the House of Representatives 62-6 on Thursday.
The bill would allow the attorney general, local police chiefs, and other designated law enforcement officials to issue an â€śadministrative subpoenaâ€ť that would require an Internet service provider to disclose the name and address associated with a subscriber of that provider.
NORTH CAROLINA - Mrs. Jeanne Annette LeBeau Wainwright, age 70, of Tom Huffman Road, Purlear died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at her home.
Services will be held in Greenville, NC at a later date.
Mrs. Wainwright was born July 15, 1940 in Central Falls, RI to Arthur and Bertha Bouvier LeBeau. She was retired from Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Cobb Wainwright; a daughter; Debbie Davis; a son, Billy Gouras; four brothers, Theodore LeBeau, Alford LeBeau, Arthur LeBeau and Robert LeBeau.
Mary Catherine Cuddy
ATTLEBORO - Mary Catherine Cuddy, 89, of Canterbury Woods passed away on Tuesday evening, June 7, 2011 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Arthur Cuddy, previous owner of Wholesale Tire in Cranson, who died in 1973 after 26 years of marriage.
Born June 21, 1921 in Providence, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Madeline (Martin) Deery.
Mary graduated from St. Xavier High School in Providence and Bryant College before working for the former Diocesan newspaper, The Providence Visitor.
Rita M. Nadeau
PAWTUCKET - Rita M. Nadeau, 84, passed on June 10, 2011. She was the wife of the late Marcel L. Nadeau.
Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Rodolphe and Edda (Tanguay) Beaudoin.
She had been employed by ITT Royal Electric for many years and had resided on John St for 70 years
She is survived by a son, Robert L. Nadeau and his wife Cheryl of Pawtucket, two grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Nadeau and four great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Albert Nadeau.
