PAWTUCKET – The PawSox continue to expose Yamaico Navarro to new positions. Monday night marked his second consecutive start in right field, becoming the fifth different position he’s seen time at this season. In the ninth inning Navarro moved over to center, meaning the only positions he’s yet to play are first base, catcher and pitcher.

The acquisition of Jarrod Saltalamacchia meant the Red Sox had their coveted catcher of the future, and with Martinez heading into free agency, the handwriting was on the wall that the 32-year-old stood a longshot to be back with Boston in 2011.

C.F. softballers stomp on Shea

CENTRAL FALLS --- Softball games between second-place and fourth-place teams that are separated by a game in the standings are usually close, competitive battles.
Monday afternoon’s Division III game between Central Falls and Shea was an exception.
The Warriors pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of an usually-high 11 errors by the Raiders on their way to a surprising 15-0 victory at Macomber Stadium that was stopped after 4½ innings by the mercy rule.

State reacts to bin Laden death

PROVIDENCE — U.S. Sen. Jack Reed called the killing of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden by U.S. commandos in Pakistan “good news, and testimony to the courage and skill of our military forces.
“I hope it is also a moment for the families of 9/11 to have a brief bit of solace after 10 years,” the state’s senior senator said Monday.

PAWTUCKET - Martin J. "Marty" Bailey 47, passed unexpectedly on May 1st. He was the longtime companion of Brenda O'Brien.
He was the son of the late Martin J and Joan (Dufresne) Bailey.
Marty was an automobile enthusiast, and loved music.
Besides his companion, he is survived by 7 siblings, Kimberly, Lisa, Melissa, Raymond and Bradford Bailey and Laurie Bailey Keough.

PAWTUCKET - Lorraine M. Turcotte 83, of Burns Manor Carnation Street passed away Sunday May 1, 2011. She was the former wife of the late Robert A. Turcotte.
Born in Bristol a daughter of the late Wilfred and Hortense (Poirier) Cordeau and a stepdaughter of the late Stanley Ogozalek. She was a life long resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring in 1990 she was employed as a Machine Operator for General Findings of North Attleboro for 14 years.

PAWTUCKET - Donald P. Lachance Sr., 76, passed April 30th at home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Elaine (Ferland) Lachance.
Donald was the son of the late Felix and Doris (Papineau) Lachance.
He had been employed by New England Paper Tube for over 50 years.

CENTRAL FALLS - Josephine (Abraham) McLaughlin, 87, who was also known as Sue or Josie, died Friday, April 28, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Pawtucket surrounded by her loving family and friends.
A lifelong resident of Central Falls, she was one of fifteen children of the late Moses and Annie (Shabo) Abraham. She was politically active in Central Falls.
She was a member of St. Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church in Central Falls where she had been a member of the Ladies Society.

PAWTUCKET - Antonio Henriques, 89 of Rock Avenue, Pawtucket passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Belmira (Machado) Henriques.
Born in Sandomil-Seia, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Emilia (de Jesus) Henriques.
He came to this country in 1976 settling in Pawtucket.
Mr. Henriques was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the Conrad Jarvis Co. of Pawtucket for 20 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

PAWTUCKET - Matthew Dusza, 86, loving husband of Rita Majika Dusza for 26yrs, was called home April 19, 2011. He is predeceased by his parents John and Bertha Dusza, his 1st wife Alice Dusza and his brothers John, Stanley, Steven, Walter, Martin and Joseph.
He served in WWII in the US Army. He was employed for 40 years by Pawtucket Fasteners. He leaves his nieces and nephews.

PAWTUCKET - Roland J. Lamarre, 91, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Y. (LaPlante) Lamarre for 60 years.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Theodore and Theodora E. (Noiseaux) Lamarre. Roland was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving four years in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Pawtucket Fire Department for 28 years before retiring as Battalion Chief in 1974. He then became Deputy State Fire Marshall at the State Fire Marshalls Office until 1980.

BIN LADEN KILLED

WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden, the glowering mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed thousands of Americans, was killed in an operation led by the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday.
A small team of Americans carried out the attack and took custody of bin Laden's remains, the president said in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House.
A jubilant crowd gathered outside the White House as word spread of bin Laden's death after a global manhunt that lasted nearly a decade.
"Justice has been done," the president said.
