PAWTUCKET - Alice M. Foley (nee Lombard), 87, died peacefully Thursday at Summit Commons Nursing Home. Loving mother of Allyson Costa (husband Tony), Bryan Foley (wife Karen) and cherished grandmother of Jonathon, Danielle, Michelle, Brendan, Lauren and Sean. Beloved sister of Maria Murray of Pawtucket and Abel Mingola of Florida; predeceased by sisters Jeannie DeMarco, Ruth Lombard and mother Mary (Barros) Lombard.

Town's annual elections are Monday

SEEKONK — Town residents will head to the polls on Monday, April 4 to choose their local elected officials. All voting will be conducted at a single polling place -- Seekonk High School, on Arcade Avenue -- from noon to 8 p.m.
For Board of Selectmen, voters will choose two candidates from among a field of four to fill two vacancies on the five-member panel. Longtime selectman Michael Brady has opted to not seek re-election, opening up one seat, while a second veteran selectman, Robert Richardson, has decided to run for a seat on the School Committee.

Judge in ball fields suit needs more information

PROVIDENCE—In a case that delves into the area of separation of church and state, a federal court judge on Thursday said she needs more information before she can render a decision in the lawsuit involving allegations of favoritism by Pawtucket city officials in granting the use of city athletic fields to a local parochial school over the city's public schools.

PAWTUCKET – A cluster of mill buildings in Pawtucket’s Church Hill neighborhood has received federal recognition for its contributions to the history of the city’s industry and architecture.
Edward F. Sanderson, executive director of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission, announced that the National Park Service has increased the boundaries of the Church Hill Industrial Historic District that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places to include the Union Wadding Company complex and the New England Machine and Electric Company.
