Police: crime is up, but not as much as was reported

PAWTUCKET—With the state of the local economy and a spate of convenience store robberies making news, Pawtucket Police admit that crime is on the rise. However, they say it didn't increase in 2010 over the previous year as much as another local newspaper had indicated.

Tigers tie first-place Panthers

PAWTUCKET --- If Tolman High and the Johnston/North Providence co-op team end up meeting in two weekends in the Division III semifinals, it should make for a truly entertaining best-of-three series.
For the second time in seven days, the two teams battled tooth and nail in an exciting high school game, but unlike their meeting last Saturday, this contest didn’t end with a winner or a loser.
