SOUTH KINGSTOWN â You know that Mount St. Charles-Coventry final that would have been billed as a matchup pitting one unbeaten squad versus another? Apparently Ponaganset didnât get the memo.
PROVIDENCE â Thousands of unionized workers converged on the Statehouse Monday from all across Rhode Island for a âRally for Pension Security,â railing against the pension reform legislation now before the General Assembly and booing and ridiculing General Treasurer Gina Raimondo and Gov. Lincoln Chafee, the plan's authors.
WOONSOCKET â A Superior Court judge sentenced David P. Leite to life in prison yesterday for the grisly stabbing death of his live-in girlfriend in their Park Square apartment in 2009.
Leite, 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder before Judge Susan McGuirl just hours before he was to stand trial in the death of Mellisa âMissyâ Perry. He must serve at least 20 years before heâs eligible for parole.
Prosecutor John E. Corrigan told the court that if Leite had gone to trial the state would have proven that he stabbed and slashed Perry 79 times with a utility knife.
Thomas A. Perron
PAWTUCKET - Thomas A. Perron, 56, passed November 7th. He was the husband of Diane L. (Cardinal) Perron.
He had been employed by Stop and Shop, IGA and Andreoni Market, then retired due to illness from Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Cherie Lee Perron of New Britain, CT, a son, Thomas A. Perron of Bellingham, MA, a sister, Joanne Cranshaw of Lincoln, a brother, Rev. Robert P. Perron of Pawtucket and several nieces and nephews.

CENTRAL FALLS - Piotr J. Budzyna 74, of High Street passed away Tuesday November 8, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Halina (Kozaczka) Budzyna.
Born in Poland he was a son of the late Wladyslaw and Karolina (Rokocz) Budzyna. He lived in Central Falls for the past 8 years and was formerly of Cumberland.
Before retiring he was employed as a Machine Operator for the Seekonk Manufacturing Co.

SEEKONK - Robert L. Pope, 83, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Weaton) Pope, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on September 18, 2011.
