PAWTUCKET: Amalia Marques, 81, passed away in her grand-daughter's arms and surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 26th.
She is survived by her husband, Armindo; her son Luis, her daughters Maria and Lourdes; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four brothers and a sister.
Amalia was born in Portugal, lived and worked most of her life in Pawtucket. She loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed and forever loved.
Fanny Judith Alzate
CENTRAL FALLS: Fanny Judith Alzate, 66, passed October 26th 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Medellin, Colombia, the daughter of the late Horacio and Pacifica (Monsalve) Alzate.
Fanny was a well-known seamstress in the Hispanic community and also a proud Mary Kay representative for over 20 years. She is survived by her four children, Mauricio, Diego, Marcela and Juan David Garces, ten grandchildren, a great grandson and five siblings, Julio, Hernando, Ramon, Nora and Socorro Alzate, all of Colombia.
PROVIDENCE â€” As soon as Rep. Patrick Kennedy announced he would not seek re-election in the 1st Congressional District back in February, it was clear the race to succeed him would be one of the marquee races this year.
Sure enough, four Democrats battled in a primary to win that partyâ€™s nomination and Providence Mayor David Cicilline bested a field that included former Democratic Party Chairman William Lynch, state Rep. David Segal and Lincoln businessman Anthony Gemma. Lynch, Segal and Gemma have now endorsed Cicilline.
Mafalda Mendes Barros
CENTRAL FALLS - Mafalda Mendes Barros, age 69, of Cross St., died at home Saturday morning, Oct. 23, 2010. She was the wife of Daniel Conceicao Barros.
Born June 10, 1941, in Praia, Cape Verde Islands, she was a daughter of the late Teofelo Correia Mendes and Maria Dias.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Alexandrina, Danielson, Auxilio, Helder, Jaime G., Arthur J., Paulo C., Justilino, and Maria Conceicao; 27 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Carlos Alberto.
Jeanne H. Godin
CENTRAL FALLS. Jeanne H. Godin, 85, formerly of Washington Street, passed into eternal life on Sunday at the Ballou Home in Woonsocket after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Victor E. Godin.
Glenn R. Cunningham
Glenn R. Cunningham,70, of Heroux Blvd., died Sunday in the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Lugn) Cunningham.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Samuel and Lenna (Atwell) Cunningham. He was raised in Nova Scotia returning to Cumberland at the age of six. and resided in Cumberland for the rest of his life.
Normand R. Breton
PAWTUCKET. Normand R. Breton, 83, formerly of Doyle Manor, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010. He was the husband of Irene G. (Fanning) Breton.
He was born in Fall River, MA. a son of the late Joseph and Eugenia (Berube) Breton. He lived most of his life in Pawtucket and had been employed as a plasterer for many years.
NEW HAMPSHIRE - Gladys Gregory, 86 of South Merrimack died Sunday, October 24 at Southern NH Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Pawtucket, RI on March 24, 1924 the youngest daughter of John and Esther (Lonsdale) Hardy.She was predeceased by brothers Hartley and Joseph and sister Mary.
Gladys was the widow of Stewart H. Gregory, Sr. who she married on January 19, 1945. He died on August 19, 2006.
Rita E. Kalafarski
PAWTUCKET- Rita E. Kalafarski 86, of Pawtucket passed away Tuesday October 26, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Kalafarski.
Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Julia (Plata) Niezgoda. She was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring in 1990 she was the Executive Secretary to the Director of the City of Pawtucket Planning & Development.
PAWTUCKET â€” Longtime City Clerk Richard J. Goldstein has earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk, an upgrade from Certified Municipal Clerk, by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc.
According to a press release, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Inc. grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks who both complete demanding education requirements and have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.
Antonio Rodrigues Inacio
CANADA - Antonio Rodrigues Inacio, 81, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, passed away at home on Friday, October 15, 2010. Born in Vila Franca da Serra, Portugal, the son of the late Manuel R. Inacio and Rosa J. Fernandes, he settled in Canada over 54 years ago. He leaves a sister, Maria C. Mendes and her husband Alfredo of Pawtucket; a nephew, Alfred Mendes and his wife Kathy of Seekonk; a niece, Elizabeth Mendes of California and two great-nephews, Alec and Adam Mendes.

PAWTUCKET: Janis "Cookie" (Donovan) Gomes, 56, formerly of Johnston, passed October 24, 2010.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Jeannette Donovan.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky and Stacy Gaudiana, both of Johnston, a granddaughter, Tianna Escobar, a companion, Moe Lottinville, a brother, William Donovan, and a sister, Candi DeSanti, both of Tennessee.
WOONSOCKET â€” President Barack Obama told about three dozen employees of American Cord and Webbing that, â€śItâ€™s small businesses like this one, after all, that are the bricks and blocks, the cord and webbing, if you will, of our economy.â€ť
After taking a brief tour of the plant in the Highland Corporate Park, Obama boasted that his administration, with the help of Congress has passed 16 different tax cuts for small businesses in the last two years.â€ť
Beulah C. Anderson
PAWTUCKET - Beulah C. Anderson, 97, a retired secretary and licensed practical nurse died Saturday October 23, 2010. She was a resident of the United Methodist Retirement Center.
Beulah was the wife of the late Russell Anderson. They had been married for sixty-seven years. She was the daughter of the late Arthur William and Anna Jane Caldwell, and was born in Providence, but lived in Pawtucket for most of her life. She moved to East Providence in 1996.
PAWTUCKET - Irondina (Torres) Pacheco, 89, passed on October 22, 2010. She was the wife of the late ILdeberto Pacheco.
She is survived by a son, Luis Pacheco of North Smithfield, three daughters, Lidia Arruda of Pawtucket, Manuela Soares of Fall River and Ana Fox of Michigan, 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph Pacheco, Francelina M. Soares, ILdeberto C. Pacheco.
PAWTUCKET: Arnaldo Lima, 72, passed October 23, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital. Born in S. Vicente, Cape Verde, a son of the late Martinho Santos and Francisca Lima. He resided in Pawtucket since 1989.
Arnaldo is survived by three sons, Teodorico, Dario and Nilton Lima, three daughters, Filomina, Liliana and Natalina and fifteen grandchildren.

Nancy Lynn Grace
Nancy Lynn Grace, 47 of Laurier Avenue, South Attleboro died Saturday at her home. She was the wife of Gary J. Grace to whom she was married for 20 years, and friends for 34 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Herbert T. Walters and of Bertha (Davy) Walters-Bourgault and her husband Ronald Bourgault of Pawtucket. She had lived in South Attleboro for over 22 years.

Never was that more evident than Thursday evening, when Frost â€” as President/Chief Executive Officer of ATW Companies Inc. of Warwick â€” hosted a Grand Opening celebration of a new manufacturing business named Parmatech-Proform Corp., located at 825 Waterman Ave.
There was no hiding Frost's elation as he introduced the new 25,000 square-foot site to Gov. Donald Carcieri, General Treasurer/gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Mayor Joseph Larisa and other honored guests.
