LINCOLN --- It was rather by accident how Lincoln High School Resource Officer Dave Waycott developed the idea of conducting a â€śDriving While Texting Awarenessâ€ť program for students with licenses.
â€śWe were doing a safety fair here at school about two weeks ago, and one student â€“ Kyle Sexton â€“ helped me out with it,â€ť Waycott grinned. â€śWhile we were waiting for people to come into the old middle school gym, he was in one of our carts, texting away.
Mary F. Rego
PAWTUCKET - Mary F. Rego, 59, of Pawtucket died Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket.Mary was the wife of the late Fernando P. Rego. Born in the Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose G. and Gualdina (DoRego) Pereira. She lived most of her life in Pawtucket.
Before retiring in 2008, Mary worked in the textile business at International Packaging in Pawtucket for 28 years.
Margaret M. Merrifield
CUMBERLAND - Margaret M.(Hodde) Merrifield, 91 of Chambers St. Cumberland and formerly of Sweet Avenue, Pawtucket died Tuesday at the Grandview Center. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Merrifield, Sr.
Born in South Attleboro, MA, she was a daughter of the late John and Sadie (Lynch) Hodde and had lived in Pawtucket most of her life.
Earl A. Marchand
ATTLEBORO - Earl A. Marchand, of Attleboro, Mass., a former Boston newspaperman and communications writer, died Friday in his home after a brief illness. He was 79.
A Korean War Navy veteran, Mr. Marchand served as staff writer for the Boston Herald Traveler and Boston Herald American from 1961 to 1980.
